Following Magpie's Flight, this follow-up book sees Tisha continue to mature and grow into her abilities alongside her found family of Dannel and Garrett. But when an old mentor calls on Garrett to leave their home, it leaves Tisha and Dannel with a new set of teachers and unsure footing. The two light-fingered youth continue to hone their skills while contending with the challenges of growing up. An old friend returns just in time to confuse matters further between Dannel and Tisha.

But when things start to go awry and they haven’t heard from Garrett in too long of a time, they’re left with a new worry – has something happened to Garrett and will they be up to the task of finding and saving him from whatever new foe has risen up? As if being a teenager wasn’t hard enough, now she needs to contend with a new unseen threat facing her adopted family.
