Two and a half years after the events of Love on the Edge, Daisy Mae Saunders, known fondly to all as Meemaw, relays her own love story, set in 1948 Savannah, to Lanie and Matt’s newborn daughter.

In 1948 Savannah, the Ellis family takes in boarders to generate the income needed to keep Parkview House, the family home. It’s not enough for Daisy, who feels they should be doing more for the community. A talented baker, she sets a goal to sell her baked goods to raise money in order to provide struggling families a weekly meal, beginning with Christmas dinner.

When Parkview House's Thanksgiving turkey tries to escape his fate and gets loose, Daisy chases it into the square across the street, where a handsome gentleman in fine clothes is quick to come to her aid. Harlan is attentive and kind, truly everything a girl could want, and he has eyes only for her. As they get to know each other, Daisy can’t help but feel he’s keeping something important from her. But when a teenage stranger shows up looking for him, family secrets and ghosts from the past flip everything they’ve known on its end. Daisy knows in her heart Harlan must resolve his past before they can plan a future together. Can their budding relationship overcome this new challenge in time for Christmas?
